| “A Guide
to Success” Program Presentations with Community Organizations |
|
In our version of the “Peak to Peek Principle”, the first
step involves learning the basics. In the next stage, Latinos who
have “learned the ropes,” are ready to expand their vision.
LIDER has developed a series of tools and workshops to inspire and
empower them to continue their education, develop more defined skills
and focus on the next peak. LIDER’s “Guide to
Success” program works in partnership with Latino organizations
that offer the community a variety of courses, programs and services
in very specific areas such as education, home ownership, community
development, personal finances and small business resources. Our
goal is to inspire Latinos to dream bigger dreams, become financially
savvy and accept full responsibility for their own success.
Workshops stress the importance of developing an action plan and
identifying the strategies and resources for meeting the goals outlined
in that plan. The seminars, based on the “In Search of the
American Dream – A Plan for Success in 30 Days” multimedia
program developed by Dr. Cruz, invite Latinos to reconnect with
their goals. It encourages a range of new possibilities. It tells
people, yes you can! Yes you should! Yes, you deserve it!

Fact: |
 |
Missing
Link |
| Some community development initiatives,
while sufficiently funded and expertly implemented often
fall short of their intended objectives. For example,
financial assistance and government programs supporting
homeownership for Hispanics have expanded considerably,
yet Hispanics have one of the highest foreclosure rates
in the nation.
|
|
Self-reliance, goal setting,
discipline and a positive mental attitude are the basis
for long-term success. Without this foundation, people
will be unprepared to take full advantage of the broad
range of opportunities offered to them.

| Objectives:
1. Provide resource materials.
LIDER provides individuals and organizations with a unique and
invaluable resource: The multimedia program “In Search of
the American Dream – A Plan for Success in 30 Days.”
This program contains a reference book, a workbook, a 24-session
audio program and a resource CD-ROM with 5000+ links to government
offices and organizations that provide services to Latinos. The
program lays the groundwork for developing both a personal plan
of action and the skills need it to implement it.
2. Coaching Seminars.
LIDER has developed a series of workshops on goal setting, peak
performance, professional and business development to help Latinos
reach the next peak and inspire them to dream bigger dreams, become
financially savvy and accept full responsibility for their own success.
In these seminars, coordinated by sponsoring organizations for the
benefit of their community, people learn to increase personal productivity
and develop winning habits that will allow them achieve their American
Dream.
3. Continuous Education Program.
LIDER plans to provide the complete resources set from the “In
Search of the American Dream” program to organizations working
with the Latino community. The goal is for them to be able to offer,
as part of their curriculum; a series of eight sessions based the
personal success plan outlined in the program. Grants will fund
both the train-the-trainer sessions and the courses. Graduates of
this program become success stories and role models within their
community.
